Happy Birthday Adrianna Garcia: “Love you little sis, wherever you are”

07-18-2024

On July 24, Adrianna Garcia will turn 35 years old. But for her family, that day will mark nearly two decades missing a beloved sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter.

Her family wrote these messages to share with Adrianna:

"There is not a single day that goes by that one of us does not think about you. There are so many milestones and life events that we have missed sharing with you. We could only imagine what they would have been like with you in them. For the 19 years’ worth of birthdays without you, it has since and will always be a very somber and bittersweet day for all of us, a reminder of your sweet face. There are no words to describe the amount of regret and guilt and what-ifs that have built up after losing you. We all love and miss you, happy birthday Dreena."

With the hope of sparking recognition and generating new leads, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children released a new age-progressed image of what Adrianna would look like today.

Portrait of Adrianna inside smiling at the camera, she has long dark hair and bangs that are separated. She is wearing a white Old Navy logo shirt with a blue ring at the collar. Next to this photo is an age progression of what Adrianna might look like today created by a NCMEC artist, she has long dark hair, but it is styled to hang straighter, and she has a side part and bangs pushed off to one side.

15-year-old Adrianna went missing from her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Dec. 29, 2004.

Adrianna’s sister, Annah Hamm, still remembers the last day she saw her little sister. It was Annah’s final weekend in their hometown before moving to Oklahoma City, so they decided to spend that Sunday having lunch and shopping for new clothes together. The two sisters later went to their grandmother's home where they had a nice time and even took a couple of family photos. Eventually, their mom picked Adrianna up and brought her home while Annah left for Oklahoma City.

Two side-by-side photos showing the same two siblings at ages: Adriana Garcia and Annah Hamm. The left image when they are very young, smiling for a portrait against a brown backdrop and dressed in pastel floral dresses with lace collars and matching long dark hair and bangs cut straight across. The right image shows the two sisters now looking older for the candid photo lounging on a white couch with their half-sister laying across them, all wearing bright casual clothing.

Annah recalls that according to their mom, Adrianna asked if she could be dropped off at a friend’s house a few miles away for a sleepover. Their mom was unable to take her, so Adrianna decided to walk.

When Adrianna did not return home the next morning, her family immediately sensed something was wrong. It turned out, Adrianna never made it to her friend’s house, prompting her family to immediately report her missing to local law enforcement.

Annah says that Adrianna was very popular, and they come from a big, close-knit family. As the days went by with no sign of Adrianna, they knew she would not willingly stay away for so long without contacting her friends or family.

This year, to mark Adrianna’s 35th birthday, her entire family is coming together for a karaoke party – an activity they know Adrianna would love.

The other girl wears a white ruffled shirt and jeans. The boys all have short dark hair, and the two girls have long dark hair with long bangs.

The circumstances surrounding Adrianna’s disappearance are still a mystery, but her family remains committed to finding answers to the nearly 20-year-old question: What happened to Adrianna?
